Bolivar, Mo. – The Bearcats hosted Drury for their first home GLVC matchup Saturday afternoon. The Panthers defeated Southwest Baptist in both games, dropping SBU to 1-13 (0-4 GLVC) on the year.
Game One
Drury plated a run in the first, taking a 1-0 early lead. Leadoff hitter,
Rylee Lunn, was able to reach on a walk and later stole second, but wouldn't advance any further. The Panthers broke it open in the 4
th, scoring 4 runs to go ahead 5-0.
Renae Gillmore hit a one out single in the 4
th, followed by a
Nicole Horstman single to put runners on the corners, but a strikeout and a fielder's choice held the score at 5-0. Drury picked up a couple more runs in the 6
th, ending the game with a 7-0 final in favor of the Panthers.
Game Two
Renae Gillmore had the first hit of the ball game, driving a single to left center in the first. She was advanced to second on a bunt but was stranded there. Drury then used a big second inning to take a 6-0 lead. With one out in the bottom of the second,
Kaitlyn Bagby singled to left, followed by an
Emma Ezzell single to right.
Morgan McMullin then drove in Bagby with a double to right center. Following McMullin,
Abby Henson poked a single through the left side, scoring Ezzell to make the score 6-2 Drury. The Panthers scored another in the 4
th and two more in the 7
th, making a 9-2 final score.
In game two,
Alissa Collette picked up 3 of the team's 10 hits, going 3-4 as the designated hitter.
Emma Wood pitched all 7.0 innings, surrendering just 3 earned runs.
Another home doubleheader will be played tomorrow, as the Bearcats play host to the Missouri S&T Miners beginning at 1:00 PM.
