Columbus, Ga. – Continuing their trip out east, the Bearcats took on Montevallo University Friday afternoon. The men's team won the match in strong manner, 5-2. They improve to 7-7 on the year.
SBU had strong matches in doubles play, winning on all three courts.
Adham Gaber and
Youssef Nabil got things going with a 6-4 victory, followed by extremely close matches by
David Szeri/
Alvaro Nunez and
Max Sanoja/
Carlos Corser, both won 7-6.
Leading off singles play,
Adham Gaber won on court one 6-0 6-2 to give SBU a 2-0 lead.
Youssef Nabil followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win on court 6 to go ahead by 3. Clinching the match on court 3 was the birthday boy,
David Szeri who downed his opponent 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. After the match was already decided, Montevallo won on courts 4 and 5, and
Carlos Corser won in three sets on court 2 to give SBU a 5-2 win.
The men's team will play again tomorrow, Saturday, March 20 at 9:00 AM against #1 ranked Columbus State.
