Bearcats Strong First Half Not Enough in Close Loss

Bolivar, Mo. – A chippy game late ended with the Tritons topping the Bearcats with a 1-0 final. This pushes the Bearcats record to 2-3-1 (2-3-1 GLVC) for the season.

Southwest Baptist dominated the first half with 6 shots including 1 on goal that was saved. The Tritons struck in the second half with a goal in the 67th minute to take the lead. The Bearcats and Tritons got in a small scuffle in the 79th minute which resulted in an SBU red card and forced the Bearcats to play with 10 players for the remaining minutes. UMSL would have a chance to seal the game on a penalty kick in the 88th minute but Will vanHoornbeek made a spectacular save to give the Bearcats a chance. Luke Clingerman led the Bearcats on offense with 4 shots including 1 on goal. Will vanHoornbeek finished with 3 saves in goal.

The Bearcats will face off against McKendree on March 21 at 2:30 in Bolivar for their next match.
