Quincy, Ill. – The Bearcats came out on the wrong end of a double-header against Quincy and Illinois-Springfield. SBU lost the first game to Quincy in three sets and fell to UIS in three sets as well. This makes the Bearcats record 1-4 (1-4 GLVC) on the young season.
Game One
Southwest Baptist came out quick to take a 5-2 lead and held that lead until the 14-13 mark in the first set. The Bearcats would fall 16-25 in the first set and follow that up with the second and third set both being scored 15-25 in favor of the Hawks.
Ashley Lasher led the Bearcats with 8 kills.
Loran Pritchett had 15 assists in the match along with 8 digs.
Lindsey Barton led in digs with 9.
Game Two
The second game of the day finished with the Prairie Stars taking all three sets 17-25, 22-25, and 19-25. The Bearcats got off to a slow start in the first set but mounted a comeback that fell just short. SBU fought hard in the second set and had a 22-21 lead late but faltered to drop that set.
Ashley Lasher and
Loran Pritchett paced the Bearcats on the attack with 13 kills from Lasher and 10 kills from Pritchett.
Chanelle Boldridge and
Ashley Lasher each had 12 digs for the Bearcats.
Ashleigh DeWees helped set up the Bearcats attacks with 27 assists.
Southwest Baptist will be back at home on March 6 when they face both McKendree and Maryville for a conference doubleheader.
