Springfield, Mo. – Southwest Baptist used some good pitching in both games but came up just short, losing to Upper Iowa 1-3 and Midwestern State 3-4.
Game One
Emma Wood drew the start on the mound for the Bearcats and started well with a strikeout on the first batter. Upper Iowa would score 3 runs in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. The final inning the Bearcats got on the board after
Morgan McMullin reached on an error that scored
Meadow Vassar. SBU was led by
Katlynn McConville and
Rylee Lunn who each had one hit apiece. Wood finished with 2 strikeouts and only allowing 2 earned runs on the mound.
Game Two
Southwest Baptist got the scoring started in the second inning when
Nicole Horstman reached on an error that scored both
Bailey Elmore and
Morgan McMullin.
Morgan McMullin extended the Bearcats lead in the fourth inning with a home run to left field. Midwestern State scored four in the 7
th inning to pull out the win.
Morgan McMullin led the Bearcats with a home run on 3 plate appearances.
Alyssa Reed had the other hit for the Bearcats along with a walk.
Southwest Baptist will be back in action on March 5
th when they travel to Emporia, Kan.
