Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist took an early lead over the Prairie Stars but couldn't quite hold on and fell 58-63 in the end. This pushes the Bearcats record to 4-13 (4-13 GLVC) on the season.
UIS took a 3-point lead just over halfway through the first quarter but
Kyleigh Vaught made a 3-pointer from nearly half-court to tie it back up.
Sydney Bandy would make a three to start the second quarter to pull within one. Another deep three as the shot clock sounded from
Kyleigh Vaught would give the Bearcats the lead just over halfway through the quarter. Vaught would follow that up with three free throws on the next possession after being fouled shooting a 3-pointer. SBU would get the ball back with 6 seconds remaining in the second quarter and
Rachel Tippens would take it coast-to-coast for a layup as time expired and a 1-point lead for the Bearcats. Southwest Baptist would extend the lead in the third quarter but would falter late to fall in the end.
Senior day at Hammons Court ended well with all 5 seniors scoring 5 or more points.
Kyleigh Vaught led the way with 19 followed by
Sydney Bandy (11) and
Regan Tibbits (10). Bandy also cleaned up on the boards, grabbing 7 rebounds.
Taliayah Wilson hosted a block party in the paint with 3 blocks for the game.
