Springfield, Mo. – The SBU Women's Basketball team played against the Baptist Bible Patriots Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats wer victorious over the Patriots by a score of 79-43. This pushes the Bearcats record 5-4 (2-1 GLVC).
Early in the first quarter, the Bearcats came out strong with Emma Perry making a three-pointer to go ahead 7-4. The Bearcats started to pull away with a Faith Gilkey three. Late in the first quarter, Gilkey scored again to increase the lead. SBU used a strong second quarter to take a solid 42-18 lead at the half. Early in the third quarter, Vaught went into the paint for a layup and made the score 52–22. Right before the third quarter ended, Rachel Tippens made a layup to make the score 66-30. In the fourth quarter, Leikyn Walker made a jumper for two points and Foster made a driving layup. The Bearcats maintained a strong lead the rest of the game, defeating the Patriots by a final score of 79-43.
Faith Gilkey had a solid game with 15 points, 5 steals, and 5 rebounds. Mary Rose Foster had 13 points and went 6-6 from the field. Emma Perry had 12 points from the field. As a team, Southwest Baptist had 38 rebounds and 22 assists, shooting 46% from the field.
The Bearcats will be home for their next game to match up against Missouri Baptist on December 13 at 10 AM.
