Lebanon, Ill. – The SBU Women's Soccer team was taking on a familiar opponent Friday evening, purple Bearcats, but from McKendree University. The opposing Bearcats took the match in a close 2-1 finish, dropping SBU to 2-6-1 (2-5 GLVC) on the year.
McKendree was busy early, getting a few shots off in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Raegan Edwards fired on at the net, but it landed out to the right. Later in the half, Edwards put one on goal but the McKendree keeper made the save. Shortly after halftime,
Maya Cofield broke the scoreless tie with an assist from
Raegan Edwards. About 8 minutes later, McKendree evened the score once again. The hosts kept their momentum going and scored a goal late in the match to take the game 2-1.
Alli Harrington finished with 8 saves for SBU.
SBU's road trip continues Sunday with a match against Missouri-St. Louis at 12 PM.
