Kirksville, Mo. - The SBU Volleyball team was on the road Tuesday night for some mid-week GLVC action against Truman State. The match went 3-0 in favor of the Bearcats who improve to 7-9 (3-5 GLVC) this fall.
Despite falling behind 2-0, SBU took control and won the first set 25-12. The Bearcats found themselves behind again in the second set 19-13, but rallied back to win it 29-27. More strong play came from SBU in the third set, taking it 25-21 and the set 3-0. The kills were evenly spread throughout the Bearcat bench, as
Azalea Clendenning led with 9 and
Lauren Compton,
Ashley Lasher, and
Rachel Francis each finished with 8.
Loran Pritchett had 30 assists on the night to go along with her 3 blocks. Leading the digs column was
Aleena Peterson with 14, and
Paityn Kramer was just behind with 12 of her own.
The team returns home for a weekend series featuring McKendree and Southern Indiana on Friday and Saturday. Friday's match is scheduled for 7:00 PM and Saturday's match will be played at 3:00 PM, both in the Meyer Sports Center.
