Springfield, Ill. – Continuing their final road trip, the SBU Volleyball team was facing off against the Prairie Stars of UIS Saturday afternoon. The hosts took the match 3-0, dropping SBU to 10-15 (5-9 GLVC).
The first point of the match came from
Azalea Clendenning on an assist from
Loran Pritchett. Bouncing back, the Prairie Stars took the first set, 25-17. The second set was filled with runs by both teams. Trailing 14-10, SBU went on a big run to take an 18-15 lead. The Prairie Stars responded, forcing the set into extra points, eventually taking set two 28-26. That momentum carried the hosts to a strong 25-8 set three victory.
Ashley Lasher was back for the Bearcats, recording a team-high 8 kills in the match.
Loran Pritchett finished with 21 assists, and
Aleena Peterson had 9 digs on the day.
The team will be just down the road from Bolivar in their next match, taking on Highway 13 rival Drury on Tuesday, November 2 at 7 PM. Earlier this year, Drury took the match in Bolivar 3-1, but extremely close sets of 25-22, 24-26, 25-20, 27-25.
