Maryville Tops Women's Soccer 2-0

Bolivar Mo. - The SBU Women's Soccer team had a match against the Maryville Saints Sunday afternoon. Southwest Baptist came up short against the Saints with the final score of 2-0. This makes the Bearcats record 2-5-1 (2-3 GLVC).

A few minutes into the match, the Saints took an early lead with a score that went just past the goalie. Maya Cofield took a shot low center, but the goalie saved it. Shortly after, Cofield took another shot, and the ball missed the net. Within 14 minutes of the game, Abby Youngblood fired a shot low center and it was stopped by the Maryville goalie. Allyson Lieber then hit the ball, but it was off to the right. In the middle of the 2nd half, the Saints struck again with another goal to make the score 2-0. Late in the 2nd half, Kendal Weiskopf got a shot off, but the ball hit the crossbar. Alli Harrington helped the Bearcats with 6 saves in the game.

The Bearcats will be on the road to take on the McKendree Bearcats for their next game on October 8th at 5 PM.
