Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Men's Soccer team took on the Truman State Bulldogs Friday afternoon. Southwest Baptist tied with Truman State, as the teams were tied 2-2 after double overtime. This makes the Bearcats record 1-13-1 (1-11-1 GLVC) for the year.
Within 20 minutes of the game, Gauthier Vareilles took a shot, but the ball missed the net. The Bulldogs scored the first goal. Late in the 1st half, Joshua Gerdiman kicked the ball, but wasn't able score. In the 2nd half, Pierre Barilly netted a laser of a shot to tie the game 1-1. Moments later, Truman State scored to take back the lead. Not too long after, Tumekie Blackwood headed the ball in to tie the game, coming off a cross from Gauthier Vareilles. Before the the 2nd half ended, Alberto Rodriguez fired a shot at the net, but it was blocked. With a tie game in regulation, the teams went into overtime. Barilly had an opportunity late, but it was saved. The game then went into double overtime, but neither team could score, which led to the final score of 2-2.
Southwest Baptist will remain home, take on Quincy University for Senior Day on October 31 at 2:30 PM.
