Hawks Edge Bearcats in Season Finale

Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU Men's Soccer team played against the Quincy Hawks Sunday afternoon on senior day. The Bearcats fell short to the Hawks by a score of 1-0. This finishes the Bearcats season with a 1-14-1 record.

At the beginning of the match, Alberto Rodriguez shot the ball, but the ball missed the net. A few minutes later, David Sanchez hit the ball, but it was saved. Isaiah Waddy took a shot, but it wasn't able to make it into the net. SBU was fouled in the Quincy box, giving the Bearcats a penalty kick opportunity. Rodriguez was strategic with the kick, but the Hawks keeper made a great save. Later, Tumekie Blackwood fired a shot that was blocked. Kevin Late in the 1st half, the Hawks scored to take the lead. Joshua Geridman took a shot in the last seconds in the of the 1st half, but it was blocked by the defender. In the 2nd half, Rodriguez took another shot bottom left, but it was saved. Gauthier Vareilles shot the ball at the top of the net, but it was saved. Unable to find the back of the net, the Bearcats came up short to the Hawks with the final 1-0.

Tumekie Blackwood recorded the most goals for SBU with 2, getting 6 shots on goal this fall. Pierre Barilly was the team's point leader, scoring 1 goal along with 3 assists for 5 points. Will vanHoornbeek started 10 games in goal making 61 saves. Willy Lusansu also made 35 saves in 7 games.
