Springfield, Ill. – The SBU Men's Soccer team played against the Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars Friday evening. The Bearcats came up just short against the Prairie Stars by a score of 2-1. The Bearcats record falls to 1-12 (1-10 GLVC) for the season.
At the beginning of the game, the Prairie Stars scored an early goal to take a 1-0 lead. A minute later, Kevin Zavala answered back with a long shot for the Bearcats to tie the game at 1-1. Pierre Lurot later followed with a shot, but it was saved. Late in the first half, Jayden Alvarez took a shot, but the ball went wide right. In the 2nd half, Illinois Springfield took the lead with their second goal. The Bearcats were unable to score again, coming up short at the end with the score 2-1. Willy Lusansu collected seven saves for Southwest Baptist.
The Bearcats will stay on the road to play against the Lewis Flyers on October 24th at 2:30 PM.
