Bolivar Mo. – The SBU Men's Soccer team faced against the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats came out on top against the Screaming Eagles with a final score of 1-0, which makes the Bearcats record 1-11 (1-9 GLVC) for the season.
Pierre Barilly took the first shot of the match, but it was wide left. Later, Pierre Lurot kicked the ball, but it missed wide left. Kevin Zavala also got a shot off, but it missed the net. In the middle of the first half, Joshua Gerdiman took a shot bottom left, but it was saved. Johny Melos also fired a shot, but it was over the net. SBU put the pressure on in the box, getting multiple shots by Pierre Barilly, Isaiah Waddy, and David Sanchez. Gauthier Vareilles followed later with a shot, but it was wide left. Later in the 2nd half, Pierre Barilly took another shot, but it was saved. Pierre Lurot hit the ball bottom right, but the goalie was ready for the ball. Moments later, the Bearcats got the first goal thanks to Tumekie Blackwood, assisted by Noah Weiler. Blackwood quickly tried to score again, but the ball was saved. Willy Lusansu kept the USI out of the net, making 5 saves in the 1-0 shutout.
The team will hit the road for their next competition, taking on the Prairie Stars of Illinois Springfield on October 22 at 7:30 PM.
