Hammond, Ind. – The SBU Volleyball team opened play at the Midwest Region Crossover Friday evening, taking on Northern Michigan from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Despite winning the first set, the Bearcats fell to the Wildcats by a score of 3-1. Their record falls to 9-10 (5-5 GLVC).
The first four points of the match went to SBU. After a few Northern Michigan points, SBU went on another run to take a 10-3 lead. They carried that momentum through the set and won it 25-16. SBU was on the board first again in the second set, but the Wildcats battled back to win the set 25-19. Continuing where they left off, Northern Michigan won set three 25-15 and took set four 25-13 to win the match 3-1.
Loran Pritchett recorded her 7
th double-double of the season with 26 assists and 10 digs.
Aleena Peterson was near a double-double, finishing with 9 assists and 9 digs.
Ashley Lasher finished with a team-high 12 kills and
Azalea Clendenning was right behind with 11 of her own. SBU dominated the blocks category,

Rachel Francis each with 3.
The crossover tournament continues tomorrow with two games. SBU will face Ursuline College first at 9:30 AM followed by Lake Erie College at 4:00 PM.
