St. Louis, Mo. – The Men's Soccer team played against the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons Sunday afternoon. Southwest Baptist was defeated by the Tritons by a score of 4-0. The Bearcats record is now 0-10 (0-8 GLVC) for the year.
Within 11 minutes of the game, the Tritons got an early lead with the first goal. Loger Rodriguez tried to make the first goal for the Bearcats, but it was blocked. Moments later, Jonathan Prudencio kicked the ball, but the goalie made the save. Pierre Barilly hit the ball low center, but it was saved. Alberto Rodriguez hit the ball and it missed the net. As the game continued, Southwest Baptist kept attacking the net. Prudencio took another shot, but the ball was saved. Dalton Anthony kicked the ball and it missed to the right. Thirty minutes into the game, the Tritons scored another goal. Barilly fired another shot, but the goalie was ready. Late 1st half, Missouri-St. Louis made another goal to make the score 3-0. In the middle of the 2nd half, Alberto Rodriguez hit the ball and it was blocked. A few minutes later, the Tritons scored and made the score 4-0. Kevin Zavala hit the ball and the ball went wide right. Late in the 2nd half, Tumekie Blackwood took a shot, but it was saved. Will vanHoornbeek collected 4 saves for the Bearcats. Unable to score, the game ended 4-0 in favor of UMSL.
Southwest Baptist will be home to battle against the Indianapolis Greyhounds on October 15th at 7:30 PM.
