Women's Soccer Takes Double Overtime Thriller Over Lindenwood

Bolivar, Mo. – The Women's Soccer team was back in town Friday evening, playing host to the Lions of Lindenwood University. After getting delayed a bit due to lightning, the game went to double overtime and was won by the Bearcats 2-1. The win improves SBU to 2-4-1 (2-3 GLVC) on the year.

Brooke Clarke got the first shot of the game off, saved by the Lions keeper. Lindenwood responded by Alli Harrington was there to make the save. After another few saves by Harrington, the SBU offense made a push. Just over 28 minutes into the game, Maya Cofield broke the scoreless tie and put SBU ahead 1-0. Raegan Edwards put a shot on goal right before halftime, but it was saved by Lindenwood. Midway through the second half, the visitors tied it up at 1-1. The first overtime was quiet, just one shot on goal for the Lions. Not long into the second overtime, Allyson Leiber found the back of the net from a good distance out, giving the Bearcats a 2-1 victory over the Lions. Alli Harrington finished with 8 saves on the night.

The team remains at home for their next competition, taking on the Saints of Maryville University on Sunday, October 3 at 12 PM. That game will be played on the grass field.
