Rolla, Mo. – The Bearcats wrapped up their four game road trip Friday evening, taking on the Missouri S&T Miners. Despite a close few sets, the Miners took the match 3-0, dropping SBU to 6-8 (2-4 GLVC) on the year.
In the first set, SBU found themselves down 15-8 when they went on an 8-point run to take a 16-15 lead. The rest of the set was very back and forth, eventually ending in Missouri S&T's favor 25-23. The Miners carried that momentum into the second set, taking a 2-0 lead with a 25-16 victory. Late in the third set, the hosts were ahead 24-15, but SBU went on a short run to make things interesting. However, the Miners put the match away with a 25-21 final set.
Aleena Peterson led both teams with 25 digs.
Azalea Clendenning had a team-high 8 kills on the night, and
Loran Pritchett recorded another 19 assists.
SBU returns home for a Saturday afternoon matchup against Rockhurst, who received votes in the latest national poll. That match will take place at 3 PM in the Meyer Sports Center.
