Arkadelphia, Ark. – The SBU Men's Tennis team played for the first time in nearly a year Friday evening. Their 2021 season began against Southern Arkansas University, falling to the Muleriders 1-6.
 
The doubles combination of Adham Gaber and David Szeri had a solid 6-3 victory on court 1, but SAU had already earned the doubles point by winning on courts 2 and 3. Alvaro Nunez and Carlos Corser battled hard, but fell 4-6 on court 2.
 
Southern Arkansas quickly picked up their second point of the day on court 2 of singles competition. David Szeri forced a tie break in his first set on court three, but ended up losing in two sets. The fourth point needed to win the match was then won by SAU on court 4. Adham Gaber fought hard and picked up SBU's lone point on court 1, winning in straight sets of 6-4 and 6-3. A final score of 6-1 in favor of SAU came after the Muleriders picked up wins on courts 5 and 6.
 
More action continues in Arkadelphia tomorrow, as SBU competes against Delta State at 9 AM and Ouachita Baptist at 3 PM.
