St. Louis, Mo. – Southwest Baptist extended their winning streak to three games with a 100-97 double overtime win over Maryville. This makes the Bearcats record 4-8 (4-8 GLVC) for the season.
Southwest Baptist didn't score first but came back with a quick 7-0 run to gain a lead early in the game. SBU's 4-point lead would be the largest lead for either team in the first period. The Bearcats kept it close the entire game, but they would find themselves trailing by 9 with 6:55 remaining but would finish regulation 21-12 run to send it to overtime.
Mary Rose Foster would make a 3-pointer with 53 seconds remaining to take a 2-point lead before the Saints would force a second overtime. The second overtime would be all Bearcats with the lead being extended to 6 points at one time before the final whistle.
Kyleigh Vaught had a season high 28 points to go along with 4 assists and 4 rebounds.
Regan Tibbits and
Sydney Bandy would also contribute 19 points each.
Nyah Pettus would come off the bench to knock in 9 points and grab a career high 11 rebounds. The Bearcats would have the best shooting night of the season, going 36-70 for a 51.4% mark. The game saw 13 different lead changes along with 13 ties.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday January 30 when they travel to Lindenwood.
