Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist finished the game on a hot streak to pull out an 87-73 win over Lindenwood. This pushes the Bearcats record to 4-1 (4-1 GLVC) on the season.
Lindenwood won the tip but the Bearcats quickly forced a turnover and converted on a
Mitch Ganote layup to draw first blood. Both teams would go back and forth with the Lions grabbing a three-point lead with 12:25 remaining in the first half before a 13-2 run by SBU would open up an 8-point lead with 7:44 left in the first half. With 4:28 remaining Lindenwood took the lead back. A
Tyler Williams Layup would spark a 14-4 run from the Bearcats to go into the break with a 9-point advantage.
Brady Smith got it started in the second half with a layup before Lindenwood took their final lead of the game with 14:20 remaining. The Bearcats would get the offense going late to extend the lead to as much as 13 with 4:09 remaining.
Brady Smith led the Bearcats with 20 points followed by
Quinn Nelson (17),
Mitch Ganote (17), and
Joe Miller (11).
Quinn Nelson was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 9 rebounds to go along with 4 assists.
Mitch Ganote also dished out 5 assists in the win. Smith contributed on both ends with 2 steals for the Bearcats also.
Southwest Baptist will be back at home on January 6 at 7:30 to face off against Indianapolis. This game will be played with no fans and can be seen on the GLVC sports network.
