Wichita Falls, Tex. – The Women's Tennis team continued competition in Texas Saturday, taking on Colorado Mesa and #15 ranked Midwestern State. The Bearcats defeated Colorado Mesa 5-0, and defeated nationally ranked Midwestern State 4-3. Their record now sits at 6-1 on the year.
 
Match One
SBU took on Colorado Mesa in the morning match. 
Dona Abohabaga and 
Constanca Crespo won their doubles match on court 2, 6-1. 
Jill Van den Dungen and 
Catarina Zheng followed with a 6-3 victory on court 1 to seal the doubles point. 
Diana Cabrera and 
Sarah Brown also won 7-5 on court 3, completing the doubles sweep.
 
Dona Abohabaga continued her dominate play, defeating her opponent 6-1 6-0 on court 2. 
Constanca Crespo downed her opponent by the same score, 6-1 6-0 on court 3, giving SBU a 3-0 lead. 
Diana Cabrera clinched the match for the Bearcats with her 6-1 6-2 win on court 4. 
Jill Van den Dungen went on to defeat her opponent 3-6 6-2 7-6 on court 1, but the match was called after that, ending 5-0 in favor of SBU.
 
Match Two
Later in the afternoon SBU played against #15 ranked Midwestern State. 
Diana Cabrera and 
Sarah Brown won the first doubles match 6-1 on court 3, but the Mustangs won on court 2. The deciding match was won by 
Jill Van den Dungen and 
Catarina Zheng 7-6 on court 1, boosting SBU to a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
 
MSU evened the score at 1-1 with a victory on court 3. 
Jill Van den Dungen helped SBU to a 2-1 lead with a 7-6 6-4 victory over the #43 player in the country on court 1. 
Dona Abohabaga then won on court 2, 7-6 6-4. 
Catarina Zheng clinched the match in a tough match on court 5, defeating her opponent 2-6 6-3 6-3. The Mustangs picked up two more points on courts 4 and 6, to make the final score 4-3 in favor of the Bearcats.
 
The Bearcats wrap up their tournament in Texas with a match against Cameron University on Sunday, March 8 at 10:00 AM.
