St. Charles, Mo. – Southwest Baptist came up just short against nationally ranked Lindenwood in the first two games of the weekend series. The Bearcats forced extras in the first game but fell 2-3 and dropped the second game 2-3 also. This makes SBU's record 6-11 (0-2 GLVC) for the season.
Game One
Dalton Morrow drew the start and pitched 9 complete innings, only allowing 2 runs to go along with 6 strikeouts. Lindenwood got on the board first in the second inning but the Bearcats responded in the fourth.
Blake Lutgen got the fourth started by drawing a walk followed by
Colby Sneed reaching on an error.
Sam Avila and
Josh Torrance would drive in Lutgen and Sneed on two singles to tie it back up at two. Lindenwood would go on to finish the game in the 11
th with a walk-off single. Avila led the Bearcats at the plate with 3 hits in 4 plate appearances. Torrance also shined with 2 hits in 4 plate appearances and driving in 1 run.
Game Two
Lindenwood would once again get on the board early with 2 runs in the first but SBU would cut that lead in half with a run in the fourth.
Colby Sneed started the fourth off by getting hit by a pitch and later scoring on a fielder's choice by
Jackson Soule. The Bearcats would keep their hopes alive with a run in the 8
th off of a
Colby Sneed single to left center. Lindenwood would then once again hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to take the second game 3-2.
Josh Torrance once again had two hits for the Bearcats along with
Colby Sneed notching two hits as well.
Cole Van Every was the starter for the Bearcats and went 7 full innings, only allowing 3 hits and striking 3 out.
