Wichita Falls, Tex. – The Women's Tennis team competed in one match Friday afternoon, defeating Metropolitan State University of Denver 4-0. The win boosts the team to 4-1 this season.
Jill Van den Dungen and
Catarina Zheng had little trouble on court 1, taking down their opponents 6-1.
Dona Abohabaga and
Constanca Crespo sealed the doubles point for the Bearcats, winning 6-4 on court 2.
With a 1-0 lead after doubles play, the Bearcats kept their foot on the pedal heading into singles play.
Constanca Crespo was the first to finish for SBU, winning 7-5 6-0 on court 3.
Catarina Zheng finished shortly after, giving SBU a 3-0 lead with a 6-3 6-3 win on court 5. The match sealing point came from
Diana Cabrera on court 4, with scores of 6-2 6-2. Play on the other courts stopped once SBU got the 4
th point.
The Bearcats continue play in Wichita Falls tomorrow, Saturday, March 7 against Colorado Mesa University at 9 AM and Midwestern State University at 3 PM.
