Wichita Falls, Tex. – The Men's Tennis team picked up two big wins Friday, defeating Colorado State University-Pueblo 7-0 and Metropolitan State Denver 6-1 at a tournament in Wichita Falls, TX. The Bearcats improve to 3-2 on the season.
Match One
The Bearcats played against Colorado State-Pueblo early Friday morning.
Adham Gaber and
Youssef Nabil won their doubles point on court 1, 6-4 to start the day. In a very close match,
Alvaro Nunez and
Ferenc Agoston helped claim the doubles point with their 7-6 (8-6) victory on court 2.
Youssef Nabil was the first to finish singles play, dominating his opponent on court 5 with scores of 6-2 6-0.
David Szeri finished next, winning on court 2 by similar scores, 6-2 6-1.
Adham Gaber clinched the victory point for the Bearcats, defeating his opponent 6-3 6-0 on court 1.
Alvaro Nunez,
Carlos Corser, and
Ilyes Khelifi were all credited with victories as well. Nunez won 6-3 6-3 on court 3, Corser defeated his opponent 6-1 6-3 on court 4, and Khelifi won by default on court 6.
Match Two
Later in the day, SBU took on Metropolitan State-Denver. The duo of
David Szeri and
Carlos Corser claimed the first victory on court 3 in doubles play, winning 6-3. MSU-Denver bounced back and won the doubles point on court 2, but
Adham Gaber and
Youssef Nabil came up clutch with a 7-5 victory on court 1 to snag the doubles point.
Adham Gaber picked up a quick point on court 1, downing his opponent 6-1 6-0.
Alvaro Nunez gave SBU a 3-0 lead with a 6-1 6-4 win on court 4.
Youssef Nabil clinched the match victory on court 5, defeating his opponent 6-2 6-1. MSU-Denver claimed their one point on court 2, but SBU picked up 2 more points from courts 3 and 6.
Carlos Corser won on court 3, 6-4 6-2, and
Ilyes Khelifi defeated his opponent on court 6, 7-5 6-4.
The Bearcats continue play in Wichita Falls tomorrow, Saturday, March 7 against Colorado Mesa University at 9 AM and Midwestern State University at 3 PM.
