Springfield, Mo. - The Bearcats wrapped up the Drury Invitational Sunday afternoon, competing against former MIAA opponent Northwest Missouri State. SBU fell to the green Bearcats 5-1, ending their four-game winning streak and dropping to 5-12 (0-0 GLVC) on the year.
Sam Moran singled to lead things off for SBU. After two outs, the Bearcats loaded the bases and brought home a run on a passed ball to take a 1-0 lead. Northwest responded in the third with a run of their own, tying the game at 1-1.
Morgan McMullin doubled in the bottom of the third to put runners on second and third with one out, but two strikeouts ended the threat. Northwest took the lead for the first time in the 5th inning, and stretched it to 4-1 by the end of the inning. Their 5th run was scored in the seventh inning, ending 5-1 in favor of Northwest.
Sam Moran was responsible for 2 of the 5 SBU hits, along with the lone run scored.
Morgan McMullin reached twice, once on a hit and another on a walk.
The Bearcats have a break for a little while, hosting Lincoln University on March 11 at 1 and 3 PM.
