Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist faced off against Lewis Flyers but a slow third quarter cost the Bearcats, losing 69-50. This loss pushes the Bearcats into 9
th place in the conference and 12-10 (6-8 GLVC) on the season.
SBU started out exactly the way they needed to, getting two layups and a three early to take a 4-point lead. Lewis came back with a 10-2 run to take the lead back with 2:44 remaining in the first quarter. Lewis would not score the rest of the quarter and SBU would score 6 to take the lead by 2. The Bearcats struggled in the second quarter only shooting 30% and the Flyers stretching the lead out to 10 at one point.
Regan Tibbits made a layup to cut it to 8 with just 30 seconds remaining and the Bearcats would force a turnover and
Bailey Rezabek capitalized with a buzzer-beating three from 35 feet out. This buzzer-beater is the second one in as many games.
The third quarter was all Flyers, outscoring the Bearcats 25-10 to open it up more.
Zahria White got the fourth quarter scoring started for the Bearcats with a quick layup. The Flyers would extend the lead back out to 26 with just 5 minutes remaining but an 9-0 run capped off by two
Kaitlyn Root free throws would cut it to 17.
