Edmond, Okla. – In day two of the UCO/OCU tournament, the Bearcats fell 1-5 to Colorado Christian and 2-7 to #7 Central Oklahoma. SBU is now 0-4 on the year, with one more game left in this tournament.
Game One
The first inning was where all the damage was done, as the Colorado Christian Cougars scored 5 runs.
Sam Moran was SBU's first base runner, drawing a walk with two outs in the 1
st.
Aubry Hernandez led off the 2
nd inning with a double to left center, later advancing to third on a flyout, but was stranded there. In the 4
th inning, Hernandez doubled once again, this hit coming with two outs.
Janessa Rivera came up clutch though, doubling to left center and scoring Hernandez. Neither team would make any scoring threats the rest of the game, ending in a 5-1 favor of Colorado Christian.
Aubry Hernandez was responsible for 2 of SBU's 4 hits in the game, and
Sam Moran had 2 walks.
Game Two
Megan Schellert led off the game with a single into center, followed by a bunt single from
Paige St. Pierre.
Sam Moran then drew a walk, loading the bases with no outs. The Bronchos then got two quick outs, but an error by the shortstop scored two runs, giving SBU a 2-0 lead. UCO quickly cut the lead in half, as the first batter homered to left.
Megan Schellert picked up her second hit in as many at-bats in the 2
nd inning, doubling to right center. She later advanced to third but would be held there. The Bronchos led off their half of the 2
nd with a base hit, but a 6-4-3 double play and another ground out retired UCO in order.
Central Oklahoma broke the game open in the 3
rd inning, scoring 4 runs, 3 of those on a homerun. Another run was scored in the 4
th to make the score 6-2 UCO. SBU managed to load the bases with one out in the 5
th inning, but a lineout and a flyout kept the Bearcats from scoring. The game's final run was scored in the bottom of the 5
th, making a final of 7-2.
Megan Schellert picked up 3 hits in the game.
Paige St. Pierre also had a multi-hit game, picking up 2 hits in the loss.
Sam Moran and
Nya Morgan both reached twice as well, once on hits and once on walks.
SBU's weekend wraps up with a 12 PM game against Oklahoma Christian on Sunday, February 9.
