Searcy, Ark. – The Bearcats came up just short in the double-header against Harding. Southwest Baptist fell 0-4 and 1-5 to push their record to 3-2 on the season.
Game One
Kyle Smith drew the start in game one and started off strong allowing a couple baserunners but picking one off at first and the other being eliminated on a double play. Harding got on the board in the third with one run on one hit. Southwest Baptist could only string 3 hits together but
Blake Hobbs was hot at the plate with 2 of those 3.
Langdon Gordon was the other Bearcat with a hit.
Parker Dent and
Logan Sorrell came into the game in relief of Smith and only allowed 1 hit between them.
Game Two
Southwest Baptist got on the board early in the second when
McCoy Pearce was walked and later scored on a passed ball. Southwest Baptist couldn't quite get the bats going with freshmen
Colby Sneed and
Devin Greaff getting the teams only two hits.
Drew Wagner started on the mound for SBU and went 3 innings giving up 2 runs but neither earned.
Matt Eleiott helped to finish off the game, going an inning and giving up just one hit and no runs. Harding mustered all their offense in the third and fourth innings, scoring 2 in the third and 3 in the fourth.
The Bearcats will look to finish off the series with a win Sunday the 9th at noon.
