Bolivar, Mo. – The Bearcats jumped back over .500 Thursday evening, defeating the Quincy Hawks 60-48. SBU improves to 13-12 (7-10 GLVC).
The first quarter was very low scoring on both ends, as SBU led 7-4 at the end of one. In the second quarter, the Hawks rallied for 18 points and SBU scored another 11, giving Quincy a 22-18 lead at the half.
Regan Tibbits scored the first points coming off the break, bringing the score to a one-possession game. Quincy stretched their lead to 6 a couple of times in the third, but back-to-back three pointers from
Alexus Johnson and
Brylee Graddy tied the score at 31-31 with 2:15 left in the quarter.

Alexus Johnson as the clock ran out to give SBU a 34-31 lead heading into the final quarter. It was Graddy and Johnson continuing their scoring streak into the fourth quarter, taking a 5 point lead. The Hawks managed to bring the deficit back to 1, but SBU went on an 11-2 run over the next few minutes, taking a 54-42 lead with 3:46 to go. The score ended in favor of SBU, 60-48.
Regan Tibbits finished with a double-double, scoring 14 points with 10 rebounds.
Alexus Johnson led the team in scoring with 15 points, also finishing with 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Brylee Graddy contributed 12 points, and
Kyleigh Vaught had 11.
The Bearcats hit the road for the last time this season on Saturday, traveling to Truman State for a one game road trip. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 1 PM.
