Bearcats Dominate Hawks in 25-Point Victory

Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats routed the Quincy Hawks 90-65 back home in Bolivar after a tough road loss. They controlled the entire game pushing their record to 19-6 (12-5 GLVC). 

SBU took a quick seven-point lead by a score of 9-2 with four points from Joe Miller. The Bearcats continued to control the tempo and pushed their lead to 20-7 at the under 12 media timeout. Their lead went as small as nine until Quinn Nelson knocked down his first of three, three pointers in the game. They kept playing strong defense and led at half 47-32. 

The Hawks scored a quick five points in the second half to cut the deficit to 10. Then SBU went on a 12-0 run, capped off with a big dunk from Brady Smith to make it 59-37. SBU continued to push their lead with three's from Mitch Ganote and Godfrey Rolle to make it 25 with 11:36 to go. Five minutes later Houston Johnson scored his first points since the game against University of Indianapolis. Abiodun Ayetimiyi (AB) scored his first conference points of his career with a three pointer off the backboard. Another three by Lucas Brueggemann finished off the scoring as they finished 90-65 in a decisive conference win. 

Godfrey Rolle topped the scoring for the Bearcats with 17 points going 5-7 from beyond the arc. Three other Bearcats made it to double digits in Quinn Nelson (15), Brady Smith (13), and Mitch Ganote (10). Damian pulled down eight boards leading the way for the Bearcats with Kent Thomas and Tyler Williams both grabbing six. SBU went 33-65 (50.8%) from the field and 14-33 (42.4%) from beyond the arc. 

The Bearcats travel to Kirksville, Missouri to take on Truman State this Saturday in a tough road match. The game will air on GLVCsportsnetwork.com and tip off is scheduled for 3 P.M.
