Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist took the lead early in the game and would allow Wayne State to tie it up but would walk it off in the 10
th inning to get the win 8-7. This makes the Bearcats record 4-5 on the season.
Wayne State got on the board first but SBU responded in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer by
Sam Avila to take a 2-1 lead. Wayne State took the lead by one once again in the 4
th inning on a home run.
Jackson Soule would single in
Colby Sneed to tie it back up in the bottom half of the 4
th and would advance to second on a wild pitch.
Aaron Head would drive him in later that inning to make the score 5-3 in the Bearcats favor. Each team would plate a run in both the 5
th and 6
th innings to make it 7-5. The Wildcats tied it up in the 8
th inning on a single and wild pitch. SBU would have an opportunity with runners on first and second in the bottom of the 9
th but would not be able to capitalize on that opportunity. The 10
th inning however the Bearcats wouldn't let runners on first and second go to waste again and
Langdon Gordon would single through the right side to plate the winning run for the Bearcats.
Cole Van Every got the start for the Bearcats and had a solid 5 innings before being relieved by
David Tongue.
Drew Wagner was credited the win for his performance out of the pen.
Colby Sneed shined at the plate going 2 for 2 with 2 runs and an RBI.
McCoy Pearce also had a 2 for 4 performance at the plate with 1 run.
The Bearcats will be back in action at home on Saturday February 22 at 12:00 against the Warriors of Winona State.
