WashU Defeats SBU in Tight Match

St. Louis, Mo. – The men's tennis team suffered their first loss of the year to #9 Division III Washington University – St. Louis. Originally, the team was supposed to play UIndy Sunday afternoon, but the team was struck with sickness, postponing the match. The team now sits at 1-1 (0-0 GLVC).

In this match, each doubles competition was worth one point, unlike the NCAA Division I rules that SBU typically plays under. Adham Gaber and Youssef Nabil defeated their opponents 8-6 on court 2, and Alvaro Nunez and David Szeri came out on top on court 3, 8-6 as well. That gave SBU a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

David Szeri picked up the victory on court 2, winning 6-3 7-5. Youssef Nabil was the other Bearcat who won their singles match, claiming a 3-6 6-2 10-6 victory on court 5. The Bears took the matches on courts 1, 3, 4, and 6, taking the overall match 5-4.

The Bearcats will be back in action on February 22 at Tulsa, Oklahoma, taking on Southern Arkansas University at 11 AM.
