St. Louis, Mo. – The SBU men's tennis team jumps to a 1-0 record in 2020, defeating Lewis University 5-2 at a neutral site in St. Louis.
Alvaro Nunez and
David Szeri picked up the first win for SBU, defeating their opponents 6-0 on court 3.
Adham Gaber and
Youssef Nabil fell on court 2 4-6, and
Carlos Corser and
Max Sanoja lost 4-6 on court 1, falling behind 0-1 after doubles play.
Adham Gaber evened the score 1-1, dropping the first set 4-6, but won 6-2 6-1 on court 1. Lewis picked up their second and final point on court 2.
Carlos Corser dropped his first set on court 3 in a tiebreaker, but won 6-2 6-1 to even the score once again.
Youssef Nabil picked up his first victory as a Bearcat on court 5, 6-1 6-0.
Max Sanoja clinched the victory for SBU, winning 6-1 6-1 on court 6.
Alvaro Nunez also won on court 4, 7-5 6-3 to make the final score 5-2.
The Bearcats continue play in St. Louis with a match on Sunday, February 16 at 2:30 PM against Washington University in St. Louis.
