SBU Completes Season Sweep of Missouri S&T

Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats shot above 50% from the field for their 7th game in a row as they beat the Miners 93-76. After this win the Bearcats are off to a steller 9-2 record in the new year. They move to 16-4 (9-3 GLVC).

The Bearcats jumped to a quick start, getting an early 9-2 forcing a Miner timeout. Missouri S&T fought back and SBU went into the under 12 media timeout up 19-18. SBU then went on an 11-4 run with 6 points coming from Kent Thomas. The Bearcats had as large as a 10 point lead but went into half up 47-41.

Damian Prgomet started the second half out strong scoring the teams first eight points. In that time he knocked down two three's at the top of the key and two free throws. SBU soon led by 12 with 17:11 to go in the game. Minutes later Quinn Nelson drained two three pointers to continue his second-half flow from beyond the arc. The Bearcats slowly increased their lead until they had a 20 point lead with 2:52 remaining in the game. That was their largest lead of the game as they went on to win their second straight game by a score of 93-76.

Six Bearcats scored in double digits including Kent Thomas first double digit game of the season with 13 points. The other five Bearcats were Damian Prgomet (17), Brady Smith (16), Godfrey Rolle (13), Quinn Nelson (11), and Mitch Ganote (11). SBU had a season-high 33 points off of the bench with Tyler Williams and Juan Morales both scoring. The Bearcats went 35-64 (54.7%) from the field and 15-18 (83.3%) from the free throw line.

The Bearcats return to action on Thursday, February 6 against Illinois Springfield. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM at the Meyer Sports Center.
