Springfield, Mo. – Southwest Baptist fell in the first game of the season to preseason #1 Drury by a score of 59-93. This makes the Bearcats record 0-1(0-1 GLVC) on the young season.
Southwest Baptist started the game a little slow but got going quickly, outscoring the Panthers 13-8 in the final 6 minutes of the first quarter. Transfer
Gabriella Capasso got the scoring started for the Bearcats in the second with a midrange jumper.
Brodi Byrd would then knock down a three off an assist from
Brylee Graddy to cut into the Panther lead once again. The third quarter attack was led by
Brylee Graddy with 6 points followed by
Rachel Tippens contributing 4 points to the cause. The Bearcats found the outside stroke in the fourth, going 3-4 from deep.
SBU finished with three players in double figures with
Megan Worthington leading the way with 13 points on 4-6 shooting followed by
Brodi Byrd(12) and
Brylee Graddy(10).
Regan Tibbits controlled the boards, grabbing 8 rebounds to lead the Bearcats.
Brodi Byrd also dished out 4 assists to her teammates.
