Lebanon, Ill. – Southwest Baptist had 4 players finish in double digits, but it wasn't quite enough to thwart the Bearcats of McKendree, losing 63-79. This loss pushes the Bearcats record to 0-3 (0-3 GLVC) for the season.
McKendree drew first blood in this one but was answered with a
Brylee Graddy layup a minute later in the game. SBU would take the lead on another Graddy layup with four minutes remaining in the first quarter but would eventually end the quarter tied up at 11.
Megan Worthington would make a three to start the second but McKendree's late run would have the Bearcats down through the halfway point. The third would start on a 5-0 run for Southwest Baptist with a small answer from McKendree.
Nyah Pettus' three pointer with 5:31 remaining in the third would spark a 7-0 run from the Bearcats to bring them within 6 of McKendree going into the final quarter. McKendree would go on to win the game 63-79.
Kyleigh Vaught led the Bearcats with 15 points for her second straight game to go along with 3 assists. The Bearcats also had double digit scoring from
Megan Worthington (14),
Brylee Graddy (11), and
Mary Rose Foster (11).
Rachel Tippens earned the hustle stats, finishing with 7 rebounds and 4 assists to go along with her 5 points. Worthington added 3 steals to assist in the 13 points scored off turnovers for the Bearcats.
Southwest Baptist will be back in action against Rockhurst on December 16 at 1:00 PM. This will be the first home game of the 2020-21 season.
