Bolivar, Mo. – The Bearcats were unable to pull out the comeback win at home and fell to the Lions 72-68. This game makes the Bearcats record 7-5 (1-3 GLVC) for the season.
The Bearcats started a little slow but two quick threes by
Regan Tibbits and
Bailey Rezabek cut the Lions lead down to 2.
Taliayah Wilson made a layup with 1:25 left in the first to take the lead but Lindenwood would come back with a 7-0 run to end the quarter with a 6-point lead. SBU capitalized on hot shooting from
Kyleigh Vaught and others to go on a 12-0 run to start the second quarter and grabbing the lead by 11. The Bearcats couldn't extend the lead more than that and ended up only leading by 4 at the half.
The second half got started similar to the first with SBU scoring some quick baskets to maintain their 6-point lead and a three by
Sydney Bandy with 5:33 left in the third pushed the lead out to 12 points but a late Lions run lowered the lead down to just 5 going into the fourth. Southwest Baptist looked to come out with their first conference home win of the season but Lindenwood had other plans eventually tying it up with 3:50 left in the game. A Bearcat timeout attempted to slow down the Lions after they took a 5-point lead. Rezabek came out of the timeout and hit a floater to cut it to 3 but Lindenwood made free throws down the stretch and the basket by Vaught late wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
Bailey Rezabek led the Bearcats in scoring with 17 but
Kyleigh Vaught also had 16 followed by 15 from
Regan Tibbits. Rezabek was one rebound shy of the double-double, finishing with 9 and Vaught dished out 6 assists to go along with 5 rebounds. The Bearcats will be back in action on the 11
th at 1:00 PM at home for the annual Hall of Fame induction and Alumni Appreciation game.
