Bolivar, Mo - The Bearcats took down old MIAA foe in their first home conference game of the season by a score of 84-80. This win improves them to 10-2 (3-1 GLVC) record.
Joe Miller struck early scoring the first 5 points of the game, giving them and early 5-0 lead. In the minutes to follow both teams battle back and forth with the Bearcats leading 10-7 at the first media timeout. Soon after the bearcats proceeded to go on an 8-0 run, with Damian Prgomet having two strong finishes in the paint including a monster dunk. Each Team continued to fight with Quinn hitting his first three pointer of the game. The half ended with the Bearcats leading by a score of 37-36.
The Bearcats started the second half strong with a three pointer by Joe Miller for his 15th point of the game. Godfrey Rolle then contributed 4 points and 2 assists to give them a 52-43 lead at the first media time out of the second half. The Bearcats lead never went into double digits but contributions from Brady Smith, Joe Miller, Damian Prgomet, Kent Thomas, and Godfrey Rolle kept them at a 9 point lead with 7 minutes remaining. Lions hit two 3's in the final minute to make it close but Rolle hit clutch free throws for the second game in a row creating a 84-80 final.
Miller finished the game with 22 points shooting 90% from the field and going 4-4 from beyond the arc. Three other bearcats scored in double digits including Brady Smith (17), Godfrey Rolle (13), and Damian Prgomet (12). Prgomet also recorded his 3rd double-double of the season with 11 rebounds.
The Bearcats take on another strong opponent of University of Missouri-St. Louis who is 13-1 (4-0 GLVC) this Saturday, January 11tth with tipoff scheduled for 3:00 PM. The 2020 SBU Hall of Fame class will be recognized this Saturday.
