Bolivar, Mo. – The Bearcats went down early in the game but came from behind and pulled off the comeback to win 68-59. This win helps the Bearcats to an 11-7 (4-7 GLVC) on the season.
Kyleigh Vaught pulled up from 5 feet from behind the three-point line just 30 seconds into the game to take a quick 3-0 lead. The Saints went on an 11-2 run to go up 6 but a couple baskets late to cut the deficit to just 4 at the end of the first. The second quarter started out with Maryville scoring 4 quick points, but
Sydney Bandy would get fouled on a three-pointer and would make all free throws for the Bearcats. Defense shined in the second quarter with SBU scoring 16 and the Saints scoring just 13. Southwest Baptist would go into the half down just 1 point.
The third quarter would be all Saints though, going on a 5-0 run to start the quarter and then a 7-2 run later for a 7-point lead heading to the last quarter.
Regan Tibbits made the first bucket for SBU which the Saints responded to with a three. The Bearcats would respond with a huge momentum shifting 15-2 run to take a 6-point lead that would not be surrendered. Maryville would cut it down to
Bailey Rezabek and
Kyleigh Vaught would make back to back threes to seal the deal. Rezabek would make 5 more free-throws to close out the game and pull out the win 68-59.
Regan Tibbits led the Bearcats with 18 points and 7 rebounds.
Bailey Rezabek contributed 12 points along with 10 from
Sydney Bandy.
