Bolivar, Mo. - The Bearcats began their four straight home games with a win over Maryville 76-61. They spark back after a tough loss putting them at 15-4 (8-3 GLVC.)
Brady Smith scored 8 out of the first 12 points of the game to give the Bearcats a 12-11 lead at the 11:56 mark. It was a low scoring beginning of the game as SBU trailed 16-18 at the under eight media timeout. Godfrey Rolle hit a three in the last minute of the half to make it a one point game. The Saints bounced back hitting a floater at the buzzer giving them a 29-32 lead at half.
The Bearcats didn't let Maryville lead for long in the second half as they struck a 13 point run to start the half. This spark had them leading by 10 before the Saints scored their first point of the half at the 14:35 mark. Damian Prgomet knocked down his 8th three of the season to put the Bearcats up 11. Soon after, Quinn Nelson added his 2nd three of the game as they took a 48-34 lead. Their second largest lead of the game was 16 after another three pointer by Godfrey Rolle. That three pointer capped the Bearcats 24-5 in the first 8:25 of the half. The Saints fought back to an eight point deficit with 5:32 remaining in the game. That didn't last long as Mitch Ganote hit the Bearcats 5th three of the half to put them up 11. The Bearcats never looked back from their as they won the game 76-61.
Brady Smith led the team with 17 points, as well as getting 4 rebounds, 2 blocks,and 1 steal. Damian Prgomet and Quinn Nelson both ended up in double digits with 15 and 13 points. SBU shot their highest percentage from the field of the season at 59.6%. They shot 77.8% from beyond the arc in the second half going 7-9. SBU dished off 18 assists out of their 31 baskets tonight.
SBU has part two of their four game home stretch this Saturday, February 1st. They take on Missouri S&T in their second meeting of the season. The Bearcats took home the first meeting by a score of 75-71 in Rolla, Missouri. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 P.M.
