Indianapolis, Ind. - The Bearcats came up just short in their comeback bid, trailing by 2 with 1:47 left but falling 56-67 on the road. This pushes the Bearcats record to 9-9 (3-7 GLVC) on the season.
Sydney Bandy and
Bailey Rezabek got the scoring started in the game with two back to back jumpers for a 4-0 lead in the first 3 minutes. Rezabek would score 3 more in the quarter to help SBU.
Alexus Johnson closed out the first quarter with a buzzer beating 3 to build the lead up to 6 for the Bearcats. The Greyhounds would come out firing taking a 3 point lead before SBU could score. The Greyhounds led by as much as 8 in the second quarter but 11 points combined from
Regan Tibbits and
Bailey Rezabek would keep the Bearcats within striking distance.
Southwest Baptist came out hot in the second half, regaining the lead on a Rezabek three. Indianapolis would have a stretch of runs with the lead extending to 10 at one point. SBU made a pair of free throws late in the third to trail by single digits heading into the fourth quarter. Both teams would trade baskets early in the fourth with SBU making 3 three-pointers just before the 2 minute mark in the fourth to cut the lead down to 2. The Bearcats would start fouling to stop the clock and bring the final score to 56-67 in favor of Indianapolis. Rezabek finished with 16 points as well as Tibbits with 13.
Sydney Bandy led the team with 5 rebounds and tallied 12 points aditionally.
Regan Tibbits stepped up on defense with a team leading 3 steals also.
