Lebanon, IL - Southwest Baptist had the first game of 2020 against McKendree University and came out with a 63-58 win. This pushes the Bearcats record to 7-3 (1-1 GLVC) for the season.
Southwest Baptist and McKendree battled hard in the first quarter with McKendree leading the entire quarter until
Kyleigh Vaught made a three with 5 seconds left to tie it up. SBU started off on a 12-6 run in the second quarter started out by a
Bailey Rezabek layup. Rezabek went on to score 11 of her 23 points in the quarter on 4-4 shooting and 2-2 from the line. SBU went into the break with a 35-27 advantage at the half.
McKendree won the third quarter, outscoring the Bearcats 15-9 to cut the lead down to 2 for SBU. McKendree was also able to keep Rezabek to just 5 points in the fourth but the Bearcats supporting cast propelled them to the win.
Bailey Rezabek led SBU with 23 points followed by
Regan Tibbits and
Piper Francis with 9 points each. Tibbits also helped on the defensive end with 3 steals.
Sydney Bandy cleaned up on the boards, grabbing a team high 11 rebounds.
Southwest Baptist finishes up the road trip against Southern Indiana on January 4th and will be back at home against Lindenwood on the 9th at 5:30 PM. Be sure and come support your Bearcats to start 2020!
