St. Louis, Mo. – SBU fell just short in a hard-fought battle at Maryville. The Bearcats started off a little slow and were unable to make a comeback with the Bearcats falling 82-66. This pushes their record to 9-6 (3-4 GLVC) for the season.
Alexus Johnson came out firing to start the game with a quick three off of an assist from
Bailey Rezabek to keep the Bearcats tied 4-4 with the Saints. Maryville went up a quick 5 in the next minute but Rezabek slowed the Saints momentum with a deep three in transition. Maryville stretched the lead out to 8 but a 10-6 run by the Bearcats to end the quarter only down 4. The second quarter started out with the Bearcats drawing first blood on a
Zahria White jumper, but the Saints would go on an 11-0 run to take a lead. Southwest Baptist ended the half down 43-28.
Similar to the second quarter the Bearcats came out hot with
Alexus Johnson getting a jumper to fall in the first minute. SBU couldn't quite string together a comeback eventually falling 82-66 on the road. The Bearcats were led by
Sydney Bandy with 13 points and had contributions from
Bailey Rezabek (12),
Regan Tibbits (10), and
Kyleigh Vaught (10). Bandy and Tibbits also had 6 rebound each for the Bearcats.
