St. Louis, Mo. - The Bearcats extended their road win streak to four games by defeating the Maryville Saints 89-72. This win gives them their 5th conference win of the season, bringing them to a 12-3 (5-2 GLVC) record.
The Bearcats started out the game on an eight point run with three pointers from Godfrey Rolle and Quinn Nelson. After the Saints hit their first bucket of the game, Nelson hits another three pointer for an 11-3 at the first media timeout. Two more three's from Nelson, another three from Rolle and a three from Lucas Bruggeman gives the Bearcats 7 three's in the first half. The Bearcats went into halftime with a 46-41 lead.
The Bearcats came out of the half strong scoring five quick points to take an early 10 point lead. For the next ten minutes the lead stayed strong never dropping below eight points. After the Saints cut the lead to nine with 7 minutes to go the Bearcats went on a 16 to 4 run giving them at 21 point lead with three minutes to go. They never looked back from there as SBU finished the game with a 89-72 victory over Maryville.
The Bearcats shot a season high 58.9% from the field and 48% from beyond the arc with 12 three's. Damian Progmet recorded his 4th double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Brady smith (14), Godfrey Rolle (17), and Quinn Nelson (16) also reached double digits in points. Six other Bearcats contributed in points making it an all-around team win.
SBU returns home this Monday the 20th for a rematch against their Highway 13 foe Drury University. The last time these two met Drury topped the Bearcats in the final minute by six points. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
