Shawnee, Okla. – The SBU Volleyball team picked up their second win on the season against East Central Friday morning. However, the Bearcats also fell to Oklahoma Baptist Friday afternoon, resulting in a 1-1 day. On the season, SBU holds a 2-8 (0-0 GLVC) record.
Match One
In the first match of the day, SBU took on East Central. This was the second meeting between the teams in two weeks. The outcome was identical, a 3-0 sweep by the Bearcats. All three sets were relatively close, with scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-20.
Rebecca Rabius led the team with 12 kills, but
Ana Hanes also contributed 11, and
Delanie Tipton had 10.
Makenzie Bouse led SBU with 33 assists, and
Kylie Talbott recorded 16 digs in the win.
Match Two
The host of day one of the GAC/GLVC Crossover, Oklahoma Baptist, played Southwest Baptist in the 4:00 match. The Bison defeated the Bearcats in three sets, 25-19, 25-16, and 25-17. OBU came out strong in all three sets, making it difficult for SBU to comeback.
Delanie Tipton was SBU's kills leader, collecting 9 in the match. Freshman
Sydney Ernsbarger had 3 blocks, which also led the team.
Makenzie Bouse finished with 26 assists, and
Kylie Talbott had another 9 digs.
The GAC/GLVC Crossover continues Saturday, September 21 at Bethany, OK. The Bearcats take on Northwestern Oklahoma State at 11:00 AM and Southern Nazarene at 4:00 PM.
