Bearcats Split Non-Conference Doubleheader

 

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist got the bats going in the first to pull out a 15-0 win but fell in the second game 5-7. This series brings the Bearcats record to 19-28 (10-20 MIAA) for the season.

Game One
SBU got off to a hot start scoring 4 in the first on a Carl Schwettmann triple, and Blake Hobbs single. Hunter Hisky tripled in the second to make the score 5-0 through two innings. Hobbs, Schwettmann, and Hisky all had hits in the fourth driving in four more runs. The Bearcats finished off the scoring in the 4th with 6 more runs to bring the final to 15-0.

Caleb Sneed led at the plate with 5 hits in 6 appearances to go along with 3 runs and 2 RBI's. Hunter Hisky also drove in 4 runs on two hits. Tyler Mathys added 3 more hits and two runs to the barrage at the plate. Drew Wagner and Quinn Appletoft combined to pitch 7 scoreless innings.

Game Two
Southwest Baptist jumped out early on a Carl Schwettmann double scoring Caleb Sneed and Hunter Hisky to make it 2-0. Rockhurst responded with 7 runs in the first through fourth innings. Schwettmann tried to get the comeback bid started with a two run bomb in the fifth. Blake Lutgen hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth scoring Tyler Mathys to bring the final to 5-7.

Caleb Sneed had a perfect game at the plate going 3 for 3 with a walk and two runs. Carl Schwettman had his 8th home run of the year as well. David Tongue had a solid outing pitching the final three innings only allowing one hit and no runs.

The Bearcats will be back in action for their final home series of the year against Central Oklahoma on Friday, May 3rd.
