Women’s Tennis Falls to Central Oklahoma in MIAA Conference Championship Final


Oklahoma City, Okla. - SBU Women's Tennis moved all the way to the final round of the MIAA Conference Championship, but lost to the University of Central Oklahoma with a final score of 4-2. 

In doubles, the Bronchos took the lead by winning on court #3. Klara Vickov and Constanca Crespo tied up the doubles score by taking doubles #2 with a score of 6-3. Jill Van den Dungen and Dona Abohabaga secured the doubles point for the Bearcats by winning on court #1 with only one break 6-4. 

In singles, UCO made a come back, tying up the total score to 1-1 by winning on court #5 in two straight sets. The Bronchos took the lead for the first time by adding two additional points by winning on court #2 and #6. Diana Cabrera captured her singles point on court #4 and made the score 3-2 UCO. The Bearcats needed to win all the remaining matches to get the victory, but UCO clinched the victory point on court #3 by winning it in a final set of 6-3. 

Women's Tennis ended their season as the runner-up in the MIAA Conference Championship and will wait for the regionals ranking coming out on May 7th. Following the release, the Bearcats will know who they will face in the NCAA Central Region.
