Oklahoma City, Okla. - The SBU Men's Tennis team beat Emporia State in the Semifinals of the MIAA Conference Championship with a final score of 4-0.
The Bearcats began with a 2-0 lead, due to the Horents only submitting 4 players for the tournament. In doubles,
Adham Gaber and
Raul Caballero clinched the doubles point by beating their opponents on court #1, 6-1. The twins,
Gyorgy Agoston and
Ferenc Agoston were leading 5-3 on court #2 but the match remained unfinished since SBU got the doubles point.
In singles, SBU needed just one out of all six singles matches since ESU was without players on courts #5 and #6.
David Szeri gave the Bearcats the victory point by defeating his opponent on court #3 6-3, 6-1. All the other singles remained unfinished since the Bearcats captured the fourth victory point.
SBU Men's Tennis will face Washburn in the finals tomorrow, April 28 at 10 AM, hoping to win the MIAA Conference Championship for the second year in a row. During the regular season, SBU defeated Washburn by a score of 6-1. The live stats link will be posted right before the competition on the schedule.
